As an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) by the Center for Credentialing & Education, I have extensive training and experience in providing supervision towards licensure and professional development. (More information about the ACS credential can be found here). I am approved to provide supervision towards licensure for social workers in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. In some cases, I can also provide supervision towards licensure for mental health counselors, licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists and alcohol and drug counselors.

To inquire about licensure supervision, please submit the following information via email:

Consultation

For therapists, counselors and social workers looking to expand their skills and engage in professional development I offer post-licensure supervision or consultation. Consultation can be one-time, as needed or ongoing depending on the identified goals. Topics frequently focus on starting or expanding a private practice, case consultation, increasing clinical skills or identifying a practice niche. Additionally, I provide consultation in my areas of expertise including perinatal mental health and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Group Supervision and Consultation

Supervision is available in both individual and group formats. Most groups meet virtually once per month.

Currently running supervision groups include:

  • Supervision group for pre-licensed therapists in private practice (eligible for licensure hours)

  • Supervision group for therapists who are newly licensed or new to private practice

  • Supervision group for licensed therapists in private practice

  • Peer consultation for moms in private practice

Private Practice Business Coaching

Balancing the clinical, business and administrative aspects of a private practice is challenging and complicated. When private practice has been a professional dream but feels out of reach; or for those who already have a practice but are overwhelmed by the business and logistical demands, business coaching is available. I offer one time or ongoing support and education about the financial, logistical and legal aspects of running a business which can help demystify the process and keep your practice running smoothly. Equipped with some information and resources, you can be a great therapist and successful business owner.

Supervision style and approach

Supervision is the process of providing support and guidance to therapists to encourage continual professional growth.  A good supervisory relationship is key to providing effective therapy.  The job of a therapist is challenging, complex and infinitely rewarding but demands a unique set of skills, knowledge and use of self.  Avoiding the pitfalls of burnout, compassion fatigue and poor work-life balance are key.

My experience as a supervisor includes supporting bachelor’s and master’s level interns, pre-licensed therapists and licensed therapists over many years.  My approach is active, collaborative and strengths based, focusing on a balance of supporting, informing, and challenging therapists.  In supervision, I promote the ability of therapists to reach their own goals and increase their growth potential. This is achieved through a mix of case reviews, education and validation.  My goal as a supervisor is to grow knowledgeable, ethical, confident and self-reflective therapists who are prepared for a career in the field of mental health and substance use treatment.  I encourage therapists to pursue their interests and develop specialized areas of practice through independent study and self-exploration.
